Order of St. Charles

The order of the holy Karl was on March 15, 1858 by Prince Karl III. Donated by Monaco and is intended to reward services rendered to the prince and the state. Foreigners can also be honored with it.

Order decoration

The order decoration consists of a white-enameled Maltese cross with a gold-rimmed red border and gold balls on the eight tips. The medallion contains a gold CC under the crown on a red background and is surrounded by a gold-rimmed white band with the inscription Princeps et Patria (Prince and Fatherland).

On the reverse, the medallion shows the princely coat of arms , which is surrounded by the inscription Deo juvante (With God's help). A golden laurel wreath with green leaves and red fruits appears in the corners . There is a golden crown over the cross.

Carrying method and ribbon

The grand cross is carried with a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip and an eight-pointed breast star on which the medal is placed. Grand officers and commanders wear the decoration as a neck medal, grand officers also wear a six-pointed breast star. The officer and knight decorate the medal on the ribbon on the left side of the chest, with a rosette on the officer's ribbon.

In special cases, the Grand Cross can also be awarded with a collar .

The band is white with wide red stripes.
