The Fiskebæk Skov

In Fiskebæk Skov (forest) between the towns of Fiskebæk and Gedsergård on the Danish island of Falster there are various prehistoric monuments.

  • In the northern part there is a somewhat preserved 18 m long barrow (in Danish: Langdysse ). It still has 23 curbs and a few meters from the south end the remains of a chamber have been preserved. Only a few stones have been preserved from the other long burial mounds. Scattered in the woods are eight, sometimes quite small, round hills and a damaged stone circle from the late Bronze Age , as well as two double rows of small stones four to six meters apart and 50 or 80 m in length, which are difficult to make out in the undergrowth.
  • In the southern part of the forest near Skelby there are two round barrows (Runddysse 1 and 2 - also called Gjedsergaard, or Gedsergård) with a chamber and a stone circle. Eight bearing stones, two cap stones and four gangue stones are available from a round dysser 1. Seven large stones (1.5 × 1.5 × 1.0 m) of the hill border are visible from Runddysse 2, while the chamber is hidden in the mound.

They are large stone graves of the funnel beaker culture (TBK), which were found in the Neolithic between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC originated. The passage grave is a form of Neolithic megalithic systems , which consists of a chamber and a structurally separated, lateral passage. This form is primarily found in Denmark, Germany and Scandinavia, as well as occasionally in France and the Netherlands.
