Rodolfo Olivares (born April 19, 1947 in Ciudad Miguel Alemán , Tamaulipas ), commonly known as Fito Olivares , is a Mexican musician who works primarily as a singer and composer .

biography

Olivares was born on the "Las Tres Lomitas" estate, which belongs to the urban area of ​​Ciudad Miguel Alemán in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, and he grew up on the "Rechinadores" estate not far from the small town of Ciudad Camargo in the same state .

After learning to play the harmonica as a child , he wanted to learn to play the accordion , but his father gave him a saxophone instead : “If you want to be a musician, learn the saxophone. Because there are only a few saxophone players and accordion players there are more than enough. "

From the age of twelve he was tutored by his father, who was himself a saxophone player, and at the age of 16 he performed as a saxophonist himself in the nearby Ciudad Camargo. But his passion for the accordion never left him and so he began to learn this instrument too. Soon he began to compose songs and learned other instruments.

Together with his brothers Javier and Jaime and his brother-in-law Jacinto Treviño, Rodolfo founded the band "Fito Olivares y su Grupo (La Pura Sabrosura)" in August 1980, with which they created a distinctive güapachoso style.

Fito's biggest hit so far is Juana la Cubana , which has been covered by the women's group Las Chicas del Can and the “Reina del Tex-Mex” Selena , among others . Another big hit is the song El Colesterol .
