Fjæreheia

Fjæreheia is an open-air stage in a former quarry where the red Fjære granite was quarried . Since 1993 the Fjæreheia quarry has hosted theater performances by Henrik Ibsen and rock musicals. The theater in Grimstad is about 2 kilometers from Fjære kirke .

The Agder Teater bought the area in 1995 and expanded it into an amphitheater with around 1000 seats in the summer of 1999 . The quarry forms the theater backdrop with appropriate acoustics .

Since its expansion in 1999, various performances have taken place in Fjæreheia, such as Jesus Christ Superstar as a film presentation, readings of the ballad Terje Vigen by Henrik Ibsen and rock concerts by A-ha , Vamp and Bjørn Eidsvåg .
