The Fläming elementary school is a four-class elementary school with a special pedagogical character at Illstrasse 4-6 in the Berlin district of Friedenau . Since 1975 there have been integrated classes in which disabled and non-disabled children are taught together; this makes it the first integration school in the German-speaking area. Of the approximately 590 pupils, around ten percent are disabled and have special educational needs.

history

The school was founded in 1875 as the First Community School in Berlin-Friedenau in Albestrasse. In 1932 it was renamed the 18th elementary school in Berlin-Schöneberg . On October 26, 1956, it was named Fläming-Schule , after the Fläming local recreation area in Brandenburg . In 1973 the company moved to its current location on Illstrasse. In 1975 the first integration class was set up in the Fläming School at the instigation of the parents, whose children had previously played, learned and lived together in the Friedenau Kinderhaus (the first integrative day-care center in Berlin and Germany).

In 2005, the integration of the disabled at school was the topic of the documentary class life , which received nationwide attention.
