The flag of Upper Silesia is a bicolor made up of the colors gold and blue .

The flag consists of two horizontal stripes. The colors of the flag refer to the coat of arms of Upper Silesia , whereby according to the rules of heraldry the color gold of the eagle is on top, the color of the shield is blue on the bottom.

An identical flag was also used as the flag of the Opole Voivodeship until 2006 . The national colors gold and blue are also used in the new flag and in the flag of the Silesian Voivodeship .

Similar flags that also contain the colors gold and blue are the flags of the cities of Opole and Katowice .

The colors were used together with the coat of arms of the Province of Upper Silesia as the state service flag of the Province of Upper Silesia between 1920 and 1935, which existed from 1919 to 1938 and from 1941 to 1945.
