Flag of the German-East African Society
The flag of the German East African Society (DOAG) based on the founder of German East Africa , Carl Peters also called Petersflagge , shows a black cross on a white field, in the left upper corner of which there are five white, five-pointed stars on a red field symbolize the constellation of the Southern Cross .
After the loss of the German colonies in 1919, the St. Peter's flag was regarded as a unifying symbol of the revisionist , colonial organizations and colonial war clubs. It has been shown at marches and events.
In a modified form, supplemented by a central swastika, it was also used in the coat of arms of the Reichskolonialbundes (RKB). In the time of National Socialism , the stars were shown in a four-pointed version, apparently to avoid the five-pointed versions already in use in the USA and the Soviet Union.
Today the flag is the official association flag of the “ Traditional Association of Former Protection and Overseas Troops - Friends of the Former German Protected Areas e. V. “with headquarters in Hamburg and members all over the world.
