Flaminius was a Roman gentile noun . The gens Flaminia was plebeian and mostly known from the last three centuries of the Roman Republic .

The most famous name bearer was Gaius Flaminius , consul in 223 and 217 BC. BC, who fell against Hannibal in the battle of Lake Trasimeno .
