The Flatcap Point ( English for Flachhaubenspitze , in Argentina Punta Ibáñez ) is a flattened cliff on the West Antarctic James Ross Island . It is one of two cliffs on the east side of the northern arm of Röhss Bay .

Surveys carried out by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 1960 to 1961 were used to map it. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee gave the cliff its descriptive name in 1964. The name giver of the Argentine name is the radio operator Héctor Óscar Ibáñez, who died on March 22, 1950 during the return flight from Antarctica when an Avro Lincoln B-019 crashed in Tierra del Fuego .
