Flavius Avienus (iunior) was a late antique Roman politician who worked in the late 5th / early 6th century.

Flavius Avienus came from the well-known urban Roman family of the Decier, who had gained considerable influence since the Emperor Majorian and were able to maintain their prominent position under the kings Odoacer and Theodoric . He was a son of Caecina Decius Maximus Basilius , who had held the consulate in 480 .

Little is known about his life. In the year 501 he held the consulate together with Flavius Pompeius . His three brothers also held the office ( Flavius Albinus iunior in 493, Flavius Theodorus 505 and Flavius Inportunus 509), which was still associated with the highest honors, even though the holders had not had any specific powers for five centuries.

Avienus took over in 505/507 together with his brother Albinus the patronage previously exercised by their father for the circus party of the Greens; at this point in time he already bore the honorable title of patricius .
