Flavius Eugenius Asellus
Flavius Eugenius Asellus was a Roman citizen of the highest senatorial rank ( vir illustris ) and lived in the 5th century. In 468 he held the office of Comes sacarum largitonum . During the reign of the Western Roman Emperor Anthemius , he was prefect of the city of Rome , his term of office presumably dating between 469 and Anthemius' death in 472.
An inscription on the late antique columns of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls shows that the city prefect Flavius Eugenius Asellus restored the early Christian church.
