Flavius Victor
Flavius Victor († 388 ) was the son of the Roman commander Magnus Maximus , who was proclaimed emperor by his troops in Britain in the spring of 383 .
When Maximus was recognized as emperor in the west after his victory over Emperor Gratian , he raised his son Victor to Caesar in 384 .
In 387 Maximus tried to drive away his co-emperor Valentinian II , who ruled in Italy , and was temporarily successful. Victor was promoted to Augustus and remained in Gaul under the care of General Nanninus . The intervention of the Eastern Emperor Theodosius I then turned the tide. Maximus was beaten twice in 388 and subsequently executed.
A short time later Victor was murdered in Gaul by Arbogast , whom Theodosius had sent with this mission.
