Flax und Krümel is a puppet show - television series for children, which was broadcast on the television of the GDR from January 23, 1955 to 1970 . It comes from the pen of Heinz Fülfe , who also spoke the doll figure "Struppi", and his wife Ingeburg. "Flax und Krümel" was the first series on German-speaking television that was intended exclusively for children.

Heinz and Ingeburg Fülfe also played and spoke the two figures represented by hand puppets . The puppets, designed by the Dresden painter and puppet designer Inge Thiess-Böttner , originally came from the collection of the Dresden puppeteer Hans-Joachim Hellwig and were supposed to be the title characters for the theater production of Hansel and Gretel . However, this piece did not materialize for political reasons, so Fülfe took over the puppets and made flax and crumbs (with unauthorized changes) . The film was shot at Königstein Fortress in Saxony.
