The Flensing Islands are a group of islands in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . They are located 1.5 km west of Foca Point off the west coast of Signy Island .
The Norwegian whaling captain Petter Sørlle called it Flenserne from a map drawn up between 1912 and 1913 . Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations translated the Norwegian name into English in 1933. Name factor is Abflensen ( English flensing ) of a Walkadavers .
