Air march

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fliegermarsch is a popular Austrian march .

history

The creator of the air march was the Austrian composer Hermann Dostal , who wrote it in 1912 as a balloonist's song for his otherwise forgotten operetta “ The Flying Rittmeister ” under the title “Candles I climb to heaven” . Dostal dedicated the air march in the first version to the Aviation Corps of the Danube Monarchy . Dostal's operetta with the Fliegermarsch from 1912 belongs to the time of the Viennese operetta in terms of music history . During this time, the Viennese operetta had the reputation of mass entertainment, which was later discussed as the cultural industry .

The Fliegermarsch was not originally set for a wind orchestra , but has increasingly become a classic march in wind music . Today the air march is one of the most played pieces in the Bundeswehr and is also part of the repertoire of military music. In general, the air march is part of the repertoire of wind bands in music associations.

Entertainment musicians such as James Last or André Rieu have arranged the air march in their respective style, and amateur orchestras also like to sing this march. The text of the Fliegermarsch (see below) also belongs to the repertoire of choral music in which the character of the Austrian operetta from 1912 can be heard.

text

Candle degree, I rise to heaven, I fly directly on Sunday.
Below me in the crowd, I whistle with respect.
When we float up like that, my friend this is a life!
I feel like a young god, cross heavenly thunder weather sapperlot!
There are no robbers in the air, no district court,
and you don't see any old women up there.
There's no dog food up there and no mother-in-law.
There's no tax in the air, no deposit,
and the interest isn't that expensive either, up in the balloon.
And when the tailor comes up with the bill,
please fly away from him in comfort.
Friend, don't be stupid, so don't be stupid:
Come and be my passenger, fly, fly, fly with me!
We want to go for a walk up where the stars are.
Throw away all your goods and money, one kick in this world!
In the air, in the air, the pepper flies,
up to heaven, heaven, heaven, Hipp Hurray!
