The Flint Group , based in Luxembourg, is one of the largest suppliers to the printing industry and, after Sun Chemical, the second largest printing ink manufacturer in the world. Flint Group was formed in 2005 from a merger between XSYS Print Solutions and the US Flint Ink Corporation. XSYS, in turn, resulted from the merger of ANI, a former subsidiary of AkzoNobel , and the BASF printing inks division under the umbrella of CVC Capital Partners . The company is now majority-owned by Goldman Sachs and Koch Industries . Today, Flint also owns the digital printing press manufacturer Xeikon . In Germany, Flint operates locations in Ahaus-Ottenstein, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Willstätt and Winterbach.
