Flintbeck yew
The Flintbeker yew is an 800 to 1000 year old yew ( Taxus baccata ) on or near the churchyard of the Flintbeker church in the municipality of Flintbek ( Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein ) - approx. 70 meters north of the church.
It has a trunk circumference of about 3.80 m (measured at a height of 1 m), a trunk diameter of about 1.20 m and a height of about 11 m.
It is one of the distinctive and old tree specimens in Schleswig-Holstein (probably the oldest yew tree there).
The age of the yew tree is documented, as it was mentioned as an "old specimen" when the Flintbeker Church was built in 1223.
In October 2019, the yew was added to the list of " National Heritage Trees " as the third tree .
