floAt's Mobile Agent (also FMA) is free software for managing cell phones . This software was originally developed because the creator was not satisfied with the functions of the Sony Ericsson T610 in conjunction with the computer. That is why he started developing FMA on January 9, 2003. The program is written in Delphi , parts are programmed with Visual Basic Script .

Functions

FMA main window

FMA connects to the phone via data cable, Bluetooth or infrared and then reads certain data from the device. The software can then be used to view the SMS stored on the mobile phone with the computer and archive it on the computer, and new SMS can be sent. While the software is connected to the mobile phone, received SMS will also be displayed in a new window on the computer. For example, the phone can be partially operated by the computer as long as it is connected to FMA.

FMA can also be used to edit the address or telephone book on the mobile phone and synchronize it with the Outlook address book . The phone's call lists can be displayed with FMA. In addition, the so-called profiles of the device as well as the groups, organizer functions such as calendar, notes and bookmarks can be edited with FMA . Files can also be transferred to or from the device with FMA. The program can also be used to operate the telephone keypad via the computer. Thanks to the FMA Scripting Framework , the phone can also be used as a remote control.

FMA Scripting Framework

The FMA Scripting Framework is an additional function of the FMA. If configured correctly, an additional menu is displayed on the device when there is a connection between the FMA and mobile phone, which enables it to be used like a remote control. For example, the mouse can be controlled via the mobile phone, but also programs such as PowerPoint or WinAmp. The control of the programs is programmed in VBScript, with the appropriate knowledge this menu can also be expanded with further functions. However, it only makes sense to use Bluetooth with the other methods (data cable and infrared), the distance between the mobile phone and the computer must be very short for a connection.

Supported devices

Originally the software for the T610 was developed by Sony Ericsson , but the software can be used with almost all Sony Ericsson models released after the T610. For a long time, however, the program's functions were limited to the capabilities of the T610. Current ( beta ) versions, however, also use functions that are only supported by newer mobile phones. Devices from other manufacturers are usually also supported with restrictions.

Current

Nothing has changed in the current stable version 2.0 since 2005. Version 2.1 was developed up to 2007, which is in beta status and available for download. There were irregular, mostly weekly updates that could easily be transferred to the already installed version with the help of the update function.

The new version mainly brings the support of different languages. Furthermore, new functions are to come, especially in the area of SMS short messages (sorting of messages by sender, transferring an SMS from the program to the device). In addition, functions for the newer models from Sony Ericsson are built in, as the program was previously only written for the T610.
