Flor de Piedra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Flor de Piedra are an Argentine band . You are considered to be the inventor of the Cumbia Villera .

Flor de Piedra was founded in 1999 by Pablo Lescano , who only appeared as an initiator and did not play in the band himself, but his brother Daniel Lescano and his sister Romina Lescano were the singers of the project. Lescano wanted to create a music that was supposed to describe the everyday life of the Argentine slum dwellers (see Villa Miseria ), between drugs, poverty, crime and the conflict with the police - especially in the band's first hit, Sos Botón . Lescano provided the name for the new style, Cumbia Cabeza , in the form of a song. However, it was soon replaced by the term Cumbia Villera in the media .

The music is characterized by very minimalistic melodies and monotonous synthesizer riffs for cumbia standards.

In 2001 the band was renamed Dany y la Roka , Pablo Lescano switched to the band Damas Gratis .
