Pablo Lescano (* 1977 in San Fernando ) is an Argentine singer , keyboard player and music producer who has made a name for himself above all in the field of unconventional Latin American music . He is considered to be the inventor of the Cumbia Villera ( slum-cumbia ).

Born in 1977 in Villa La Esperanza , a poor suburb of Buenos Aires , Pablo Lescano made his first musical experience at the age of 13 on an allegedly stolen keyboard. As a teenager he was active in several local cumbia bands until he had his commercial breakthrough in 1997 (at 19) with the band Amar Azul , on the one hand as a keyboardist and on the other hand as the composer of many of the band's titles.

With the royalties won on the hits by Amar Azul, Pablo Lescano set out to build his own studio. In 1999 he concretized his plans to create a form of cumbia that would be the voice of the inhabitants of the slums of Argentina. Around the singer Daniel Lescano he built up the band Flor de Piedra , which broke new ground in terms of text and sound: the lyrics dealt with the life of the slum kids, drug consumption, crime and sex, and the music integrated elements from techno and Trance in the traditional cumbia dance.

Flor de Piedra was very successful commercially, so that Pablo Lescano took on another project in 2000: the band Damas Gratis , in which he was active as a singer as well as a producer. This band, which revolutionized the Cumbia Villera sound once again, was very successful commercially and was awarded several music prizes such as the Premio Carlos Gardel .

In 2001 Pablo Lescano signed two other bands as producers: Jimmy y su Combo Negro , a parody of the traditional Colombian cumbia, and Amar Y Yo , which made a name for themselves with sexist lyrics.
