The Flora was a place of amusement in today's Berlin, which existed from 1874 to 1904. At the time of its existence it was in the area of ​​the then still independent city of Charlottenburg .

The flora was located near the Charlottenburg Palace between the Spree , Luisenplatz , Wintersteinstrasse and Brauhofstrasse . It was built from 1872 to 1874 according to plans by the architect Johannes Otzen . The client was the Flora corporation . The opening took place on May 22, 1874.

The main hall had a floor area of ​​45 mx 23 m and was 23 m high. When it was completed it was the largest ballroom in Germany. He had a stage for opera performances. A palm house with an area of ​​28 m × 70 m was attached to the ballroom. The facade of the building consisted of light yellow Greppin bricks and was richly decorated. In the or at the restaurant were u. a. Organized plant shows, high bike races and balloon ascents. In 1903 the German Automobile Exhibition took place under the patronage of Prince Heinrich of Prussia .

However, the facility did not prove to be profitable in the long run . In 1904 the flora was demolished. The site was built in a residential area with an inner-city character. The flora is considered to be one of the largest speculative and bankrupt objects of the Wilhelminian era .
