Flora Kerimova ( Azerbaijani spelling Flora Ələkbər qızı Kərimova ; born July 23, 1941 in Baku , Azerbaijani SSR ) is an Azerbaijani singer and folk artist.

Life

Flora Kerimova was born on July 23, 1941 in Baku. In 1965 she began studying medicine at the Nəriman Nərimanov University, where she studied until 1971. She then took singing lessons at a conservatory from 1972 to 1977. In mid-1960 she began her stage career. Their special characteristics were to perform both lyrical and rhythmic compositions. She preferred to work with the composer Emin Sabitobly , whose songs she enjoyed interpreting. Within ten years, Kerimova became one of the most successful singers in the country. She recorded a total of 20 solo albums and starred in numerous films. In 1992 she became the national artist of Azerbaijan.
