Foil tape

Foil tape (from French fleuret , also Frisolett tape ) is a strong tape of lesser quality made of schappe (also foil silk ) twisted with cotton and linen , and has hardly any hint of silk gloss in the ordinary varieties . Half black, half white foil tape is used to border footwear .

Foil tape was first mentioned in a tailor's book in Obermoschel around 1670.
