Foil (textile)

The foil (also Floret , from French fleuret ) is the outermost of the raw fibrous in the pupal stage of the silkworm incurred felt-like cocoons before threads of higher quality are produced.

The foil can not unreeled be, but must spun are, with silk low- quality results. The term foil also includes waste from other silk of better quality. The worst foil (cobweb, cotton wool or factory silk) is not carded , but only dried. The better foil is processed by carding into flock or foil silk , from which the coarsest silk fabrics are made. All witnesses woven from this silk are given the surname foil to denote their type and genus , for example foil tape .
