Daniel Walther (ice hockey player)

Daniel Walther (born April 6, 1972 ) is a former German ice hockey player who played on the position of striker . He is currently the head coach of the DNL2 team at EHC Neuwied .

Career

Daniel Walther was in the top division of the EC Heilbronn in the 1992/93 season . Between 1994 and 1999 Daniel Walther played for EHC Neuwied in the second-rate first division north, only interrupted by the 1996/97 season, in which he tied his skates for Limburger EG from the second division north. In 1998 Walther won the championship of the first division with the Neuwied Bears . He spent the 1999/2000 season at ESV Bergisch Gladbach in the Regionalliga NRW , but moved back to Neuwied the following season to play for the newly founded SC Mittelrhein. After he had made promotion to the league with the team , he let another season follow in the jersey of the bears. Walther then played for five years at EC Siegerland in the Landesliga NRW and Verbandsliga NRW. Since the 2006/07 season he played again for the new EHC Neuwied, with whom he was promoted twice in a row. In the 2011/12 season, the 39-year-old Walther moved to the Oberliga-West for EHC Netphen '08 , for whose predecessor club EC Siegerland he already played. During this season Walther also played a few games for EG Diez-Limburg in the Hessen League. He played his last games in the following year for the 2nd team of EHC Neuwied in the Rhineland-Palatinate League.

Trainer

Daniel Walther has been a junior trainer for EHC Neuwied since 2014, where he will look after the club's DNL2 team in the 2015/16 season.
