Florian Dąbrowski

Florian Alojzy Dąbrowski (born May 2, 1913 in Rosko , † November 20, 2002 in Poznan ) was a Polish composer and music teacher.

Dąbrowski studied from 1930 to 1939 at the Municipal Conservatory of Bydgoszcz music theory with Stefan Bolesław Poradowski and piano with Edmund Rezler and obtained a diploma in composition in Poradowski's class at the Poznan University of Music in 1948. In 1945 he founded a music school in Bydgoszcz, where he taught music theory until 1951.

From 1951 to 1954 Dąbrowski was professor and rector at the Sopot Music Academy, after which he taught music theory and composition at the Poznan Music Academy. In addition, from 1969 to 1975 he was Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Polish Composers Association. He founded the Festival of Contemporary Music Poznańska Wiosna . He has published columns and reviews in the music magazines Arkona , Gazeta Pomorska , Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny , Nowy Tor , Pomorze , Ziemia Pomorska , Słowo Powszechne , Pro Sinfornica (sic), Nurt bund Ruch Muzyczny and was one of the editors of the Res Facta series .

Dąbrowska was married to the pianist Olga Iliwicka-Dąbrowska .
