The Amakusa Airport ( Jap. 天草飛行場 , Amakusa hikōjō ) is the only airport on the Japanese Amakusa . It is located about three kilometers northwest of the city of Amakusa .
history
The Minister of Transport of Japan approved the establishment of Amakusa Airport on December 26, 1990. Planning began in 1992. On November 19, 1999 the first aircraft of the type DHC-8 of the Amakusa Airline landed. The official liner service was introduced on March 23, 2000. Currently, only Amakusa Airlines (AMX) has regular flights to Kumamoto Airport and Fukuoka Airport .
