Amakusa Airline KK ( Japanese 天 草 エ ア ラ イ ン 株式会社 Amakusa Earain Kabushiki-gaisha , English Amakusa Airlines Co., Ltd. ), AMX for short , is a Japanese regional airline based in Amakusa and based at Amakusa Airport .

history

The airline was founded on October 12, 1998 and began flight operations on March 23, 2000 with a De Havilland DHC-8-100 .

In May 2014, Amakusa Airlines announced that it had ordered an ATR 42-600 from Avions de Transport Régional to  replace the De Havilland DHC-8-100. In August 2015, the airline became the first Japanese operator of this type with the delivery of the aircraft.

Destinations

Amakusa Airlines flies to regional destinations from Amakusa and Kumamoto. The flights to Fukuoka , Kumamoto and Osaka-Itami airports will be operated as code- sharing flights with Japan Airlines .
