AirAsia Japan KK ( Japanese エ ア ア ジ ア ・ ジ ャ パ ン 株式会社 Ea Ajia Japan Kabushiki-gaisha ) is a Japanese low-cost airline based in Tokoname and based at Chūbu Airport . AirAsia Japan is owned by AirAsia (33%), Alpen (18%), Noevir Holdings (18%), Rakuten (18%) and FinTech Global Incorporated (13%).
history
After the Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia withdrew in June 2013 from a joint venture called "AirAsia Japan" founded in August 2011 with All Nippon Airways ( ANA for short ), the company was taken over by ANA and renamed Vanilla Air .
On February 14, 2014 AirAsia announced that it would start a second attempt in the Japanese market with new partners. For this purpose, on July 1, 2014, another airline called "AirAsia Japan" was founded. She received the Air Operator Certificate from the Japanese Ministry of Transport on October 6, 2015; eight days later she took delivery of her first Airbus A320-200 .
On October 29, 2017, flight operations began on the Chūbu- New-Chitose route about two years later than planned .

AirAsia Japan serves New Chitose , Sendai and Taiwan Taoyuan airports from its base at Chūbu Airport .
