J-Air Co., Ltd. ( Japanese 株式会社 ジ ェ イ エ ア Kabushiki-gaisha Jei Ea ) is a Japanese regional airline based in Ikeda and a subsidiary of Japan Airlines .
history
On April 8, 1988, JAL Flight Academy Co., Ltd. (JFA) in Hiroshima . JFA opened scheduled operations with a new division and took over flight operations from the insolvent Nishi Seto Airlink . The Embraer EMB 110 were replaced by BAe Jetstream 31 on April 8, 1988 .
On August 8, 1996, JFA founded the subsidiary J-Air in Hiroshima in order to meet the requirements of an airline. In April 2001, J-Air became a private company after the state sold all of its interests. Nowadays, J-Air serves routes that require a high frequency of flights, but which also have a small number of passengers. The routes are therefore not suitable for Boeing 737s (JAL's smallest machine type with over 100 seats). For this reason, all aircraft were replaced by the Bombardier CRJ200 with 50 seats by August 2003. On February 17, 2005, flight operations to Nagoya Airport were postponed in order to reach a larger clientele.
In April 2007 the parent company Japan Airlines and with it J-Air joined the Oneworld Alliance . On June 18, the airline ordered a total of 15 Embraer 170s . These were delivered from 2008.
In August 2014, J-Air ordered 47 aircraft, including 32 Mitsubishi Regional Jets and 15 Embraer E-Jets .
