Ryūkyū Air Commuter KK ( Japanese 琉球 エ ア ー コ ミ ュ ー タ ー 株式会社 Ryūkyū Eā Komyūtā Kabushiki-gaisha , RAC for short ) is a Japanese regional airline based in Naha and based at Naha Airport . It is a subsidiary of Japan Transocean Air .
history
Ryūkyū Air Commuter, or RAC for short , was founded in 1985 and began flight operations on February 17, 1985. It is 60% owned by Japan Transocean Air , 34.9% in free float and 5.1% by the prefecture Okinawa .
In July 2014, Ryūkyū Air Commuter was the first airline in the world to order a combi version of the De Havilland DHC-8-400, which can simultaneously transport four tons of cargo and 50 passengers.
