The Iğdır Airport ( Turkish Iğdır Havalimanı , IATA code: IGD , ICAO LTCT ) is located in the east of Turkey , about 16 km northwest of the city of Iğdır . It is served by Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet from Istanbul and Ankara. The airport has a 3000 meter long runway. Runway 12/30 is about 945 meters above sea level.
history
Construction of the airport began in 1996, but was suspended in 2001. Construction was resumed on June 12, 2010. The airport was opened on July 13, 2012 by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan .
