The Iwami Airport ( Japanese 石 見 空港 , Iwami-Kūkō ) is a small commercial airport in the city of Masuda in Japan , Shimane Prefecture . The airport is about 5 kilometers west of Masuda's city center. The name-giving region of Iwami corresponds roughly to the former Iwami province in the western part of Shimane. From here there are currently (2009) only domestic connections. Iwami Airport is a 3rd class airport under Japanese law .
The airport is also known as Hagi-Iwami Airport because of its proximity to Hagi City , Yamaguchi Prefecture .
