The Nuremberg Airport GmbH is the operating company of the Nuremberg Albrecht Dürer Airport airport based in Nuremberg .

Ownership

When it was founded, the Federal Republic of Germany held 30%, the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Nuremberg each with 35% of the operating company of Nuremberg Airport . With effect from January 1, 1966, the Federal Republic of Germany transferred its shares to the two remaining shareholders. This step was justified by the fact that it wanted to withdraw from all existing airport holdings in order to reduce the financial obligations for investments, which were given as loans. The Federal Republic of Germany only remained involved in the airports in Frankfurt am Main, Berlin and Cologne / Bonn.

The City of Nuremberg and the Free State of Bavaria are currently the shareholders of Flughafen Nürnberg GmbH with 50% each.

history

As evidenced by the extract from the commercial register, the company was founded with a partnership agreement dated November 20, 1953 and entered in the commercial register on February 1, 1954. The first chairman of the supervisory board was Julius Loßmann .

In 1979 Flughafen Nürnberg Service GmbH (under commercial law: Flughafen Nürnberg Service Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung) was founded. This took over the management of the parking areas as well as the rental and operation of the shops on the airport grounds.

AirPart GmbH (under commercial law: AirPart Limited Liability Company) was founded in 2000 and provides all ground handling services at Nuremberg Airport.

Flughafen Nürnberg Energie GmbH was founded in 2009. It is responsible for energy trading, energy generation and network operation at Nuremberg Airport.

As a result of investments and losses in previous years, the airport company incurred a total of around 115 million euros in debt. As a result, in 2014 the city of Nuremberg and the Free State of Bavaria decided, in their function as shareholders, to increase the company's capital by 40 million euros, whereby each shareholder had to contribute 20 million euros according to their participation rate. The company also received a loan of EUR 20 million from the Free State of Bavaria and EUR 10 million from the City of Nuremberg. This gave the airport a total of 70 million euros.

criticism

The airport company is particularly criticized by residents because of the airport's 24-hour operating time and the associated night flights. The association Fluglärm-Schutzgemeinschaft Nürnberg und Umgebung eV represents the interests of residents affected by aircraft noise.
