The Phitsanulok Airport ( Thai : ท่าอากาศยาน พิษณุโลก ; IATA code : PHS ICAO code : VTPP) is a national airport on the southern outskirts of Phitsanulok , the capital of the province of Phitsanulok in the northern region of Thailand .
General
The airport consists of a reception building with a passenger boarding bridge . The new airport opened in 2005. There are several small shops, cafes and counters for car rental companies in the reception building.
The airport has an asphalt runway with a length of 3000 meters. There are parking spaces for two aircraft the size of a Boeing 737 or Airbus A300 and an ATR 72 .
In 2015 the airport was used by 549,951 passengers. The number of passengers almost quadrupled between 2009 and 2015.
In the regular service there are only domestic flights, which are offered by three different Thai companies.
Old airport and armed forces
The airport, which operated until 2005, is located in the city center of Phitsanulok and is now used almost exclusively by the Royal Thai Air Force . The runway is identical to the new one. The 46th Squadron is a one-squadron transport squadron (461st Squadron) stationed on the RTAFB Phitsanulok. In addition to the transport task, the area of activity of the 461st Squadron also includes rainmaking Fon Luang .
