The tunoshna airport ( Russian Аэропорт Туношна , IATA code IAR, ICAO code UUDL) is the airport of the Russian city of Yaroslavl .

It is served by S7 Airlines and Aeroflot . The Avia Group also offers city connections with Dexter air taxis.

Location and infrastructure

The airport is located on the branch of the M8 trunk road from Yaroslavl to Kostroma , 17 km southeast of Yaroslavl, on the banks of the Volga at an altitude of 93 m AMSL .

The airport has a 3000 m long, 44 m wide runway made of asphalt and concrete with the orientation 05/23. Directly to the north, a 750 m long, 100 m wide grass runway runs parallel to it, but it can only be used in winter.

An instrument landing system (CAT I) is available for approaches from the east (runway 23) , a PAPI system is available for both directions.

The terminal is located in the eastern part of the site, south of the runway. There is the possibility of customs clearance; However, there are no restaurants, hotels, a bank or post office.

history

The airport is located on the site of a former military airfield that the government of the Russian Federation transferred to Yaroslavl Oblast on August 13, 1998 . The sole shareholder of the airport is a company owned by the oblast.

On September 7, 2011, near this airport, the crash of YAK service flight 9633 occurred , in which a large part of the Lokomotive Yaroslavl ice hockey team was killed.
