The Yakushima Airport ( Japanese 屋 久 島 空港 , Yakushima-Kūkō ) is a small commercial airport in the city of Yakushima on the island of the same name in Japan , Kagoshima Prefecture . The airport is located approximately 13 kilometers east of Yakushima city center on the northeast coast of the island. From here there are currently (2009) only domestic connections. Yakushima Airport is a 3rd class airport under Japanese law .
