The international airport Adisucipto ( Indonesian Bandara Internasional Adisucipto , IATA : JOG , ICAO : WARJ ) is the airport of the Indonesian city Yogyakarta in the province of Yogyakarta in Central Java . The airport has recently undergone major expansion and expansion measures. Until its termination, the nearby Surakarta airport served as the international airport for the region.

In the great earthquake in Yogyakarta on May 27, 2006, the airport suffered severe structural damage, with the only paved runway being badly damaged and the terminal building partially collapsed. Most of the flights to Surakarta were diverted over the next three days. The airport suffered from extreme capacity bottlenecks for a long time until the completion of a new passenger building for the passenger handling of flights abroad .
