The airfield Altlichtenwarth (ICAO LOAR) is an airfield in Altlichtenwarth in Lower Austria . It has existed since 2005.
The airfield is a pure glider airfield for motor gliders and gliders also with winch operation. Mainly flight operations on weekends and bank holidays. The airfield LOAR near Altlichtenwarth is the most easterly airfield in Austria in the Weinviertel in the area of the Mühlberg between the places Altlichtenwarth, Bernhardsthal, Reinthal and Katzelsdorf.
The location of the airfield in one of the most important bird sanctuaries in Central Europe naturally raised concerns on the part of the nature conservation officers and the NGO "Bird Life". Under the leadership of the nature conservation department of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government, Head of HR Dr. Wurzer, the mediation was carried out at the round table, and a solution was achieved that meets the needs of the avifauna as well as the sport of gliding.
