Catholic parish church of the Holy Trinity in Weiden am See

The Roman Catholic parish church Weiden am See is located in the municipality of Weiden am See in the Neusiedl am See district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to the Holy Trinity and belongs to the Deanery Neusiedl am See in the Diocese of Eisenstadt . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The church is in the Neustift district .

history

The church was elevated to a parish church even before the Reformation . It was rebuilt in 1688 after the Reformation. Today's church building was rebuilt between 1782 and 1786. It was renovated after damage during the Second World War in 1945. Another renovation took place in 1974.

Church exterior

The church is a late baroque building with a western tower facade. The drafted choir has a 3/8 end. The wide facade is structured by pilasters . In the niches there are figures of the holy kings Emmerich and Stephan . Above a volute gable is a single-storey church tower with a pointed helmet. A sacristy annex adjoins the south side of the choir .

Church interior

The church is a high two-bay hall. The ceiling is vaulted between double belt arches that rest on flat double pilasters . The west wall to the bell room opens in three arches. The gallery has a curved parapet that was pulled over the two round supports. The windows of the nave are set in wide rounded niches. The transition to the choir yoke is through a wide throat. The apse is flat elliptical inside.

Furnishing

The high altar, the pulpit, the organ and the pews date from the first half of the 18th century. They come from the former Augustinian monastery in Bruck an der Leitha . According to the contract signed in 1738, the high altar was created based on a design by Lucas von Hildebrandt . The straight altar wall is flanked by corner pilasters . Putti are depicted on the blasted segmented gable and figures of the holy church fathers Ambrosius and Augustine are flanked. The altarpiece hangs in a curly frame and shows the Holy Trinity. It was painted by SJ Maisch in 1840 . The pulpit has a rich vegetal decor. At the curved basket are seated figures of the four evangelists on consoles . On the cover plate is a figure of St. Augustine with two statues of women representing hope and faith. The benches and the confessional have carved shell ornaments. The baptismal font with heraldic cartouche is a foundation from 1689. The former high altar picture shows St. Mary Magdalene and now hangs across from the pulpit. It was painted by A. Herzog in 1735 and restored in 1976. A picture of St. John Nepomuk from the second half of the 18th century hangs above the confessional . On the south wall there is a picture of St. Augustine from the first half of the 19th century. The 14 Stations of the Cross were built in the second half of the 19th century. The dining rack is an openwork stone balustrade from the second quarter of the 18th century.

organ

The organ dates from 1725. On the prospectus there is a figure of King David and angels in a rich volute wreath .

Bell jar

The bell was cast by Josef Golner in Bratislava in 1827 .
