The Włocławek-Kruszyn Airfield ( Polish Lotnisko Włocławek-Kruszyn , ICAO code : EPWK ) is an airfield in Poland . The airfield is located in Kruszyn near Włocławek , about 100 km northwest of Warsaw. The airfield opened in 1965. Today the square is operated by the Włocławski Aeroclub . There is a private training center for skydiving at the airfield .
history
Aviation began in Włocławek in the 1930s, when three Orlik-type gliders (0Design Antoni Kocjan ) were built. The students of the Ziemi Kujawskiej grammar school were inspired by the achievements of the Polish pilot Stanisław Skarżyński , who graduated from this school.
After World War II , aviation enthusiasts started building an airfield near the city. In 1947 they founded the Liga Lotnicza (German Flight League ) with the help of the Aero Club Pomorski , and brought two Polikarpow Po-2 aircraft to Włocławek. The two planes landed at the Kapitułka airfield on Jasna Street.
In 1957 a local branch of the Aero Club was founded. In the same year, an assembly of the city active and the district formed the Społeczny Komitet Budowy Hangaru i Lotniska , which was to build the airfield on an area of 82 hectares in the town of Krzywa Góra near Włocławek. The area came from the Prezydium Powiatowej Rady Narodowej (German Presidium of the National District Council ). The square is located one kilometer from the city limits near the village of Nowa Wieś on the former DW317 voivodship road .
In 1959, the main board of the Aero Club Poland gave permission to establish the Aero Club Włocławek. Due to the construction of the Zakłady Azotowe Włocławek in Krzywa Góra, a new site was chosen for the construction of the airport near Kruszyn. Construction began in 1961 and the airport opened in 1965. The area was 78 hectares, on which the administration building, the aircraft hangar, the gas station, the garages and the access roads were built.
In 1965 the Aero Club Włocławek organized the III. Aerobatics Championships (Polish III Samolotowe Mistrzostwa Polski w Akrobacji Samolotowej ). Various festivals and events are organized on the airfield site, mostly in connection with flight competitions. 1991 held Pope John Paul II . a solemn mass at the airfield.
Due to the economic changes in the 1990s, the Aero Club Poland stopped promoting its regional branches. The aero clubs found themselves in a difficult situation where they had to find resources and renovate the equipment themselves. For this reason, the traditions of festivals and aerial and model shows that disseminate these areas of knowledge and sports are maintained.
