Airframe (stage technology)
An airframe is a conveyor system belonging to the upper stage of a performance facility, which is used during the stage to raise, lower and move people (passenger flights) or decorative items. It dates from the early Renaissance period , when a person suddenly had to appear on the Telari stage with the trick “God from the Machine” (“ Deus ex machina ”).
The person to be lifted usually wears a special flight corset to which the point pull ropes of at least three computer-controlled winches are hooked. Three-dimensional trajectories can be realized in this way: straight line, circle, spiral or a path programmed as desired. The system has a long tradition with a running rail - fixed or height-adjustable - across the stage, on which a carriage - possibly with a hoist rope - can also be moved by hand.
