IC 1799 is a galaxy of Hubble type S? in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is an estimated 230 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 933 and PGC 9186 , it forms the small IC 1799 group ( LGG 57 ).
The galaxy NGC 920 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by the astronomer Guillaume Bigourdan on January 28, 1891.
