IC 1815 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Triangulum in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 215 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 969 , NGC 973 , NGC 974 and NGC 978 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on January 20, 1898 .
