Sebastian Rose (born September 27, 1985 in Potsdam ) is a German tambourelli player and trainer in the youth and senior classes and the first German men's individual world champion in tambourelli. Since July 2019 he has been the reigning mixed doubles world champion together with Hugh Wallis from England .

Career

Rose only came to Tambourelli late in 2011 at the age of 26. Sebastian Rose made his tournament debut in Paderborn in March 2012 and won a silver medal in the men's doubles at the first tournament. In 2013 the first victories followed at major tournaments in Paderborn, Kleinnaundorf and Dresden . In Paderborn he was able to get a so-called triple for the first time in his career, this is the victory in all 3 categories in a tournament (singles, doubles and mixed). At the first World Cup in Germany in 2013 in Dresden, Rose won the bronze medal in the men's singles and doubles. So in 2013 he won five gold medals, one silver medal and two World Cup bronze medals.

After a sports accident and a serious knee injury, Rose threatened to end his career in September 2013. After a long break with surgery and physiotherapy, Rose came back in the summer of 2014 and started at the 1st international tournament in Sweden . Here he was able to secure a good 4th place in the men's individual. He showed that his career is not over yet. After this tournament in Sweden, Sebastian Rose showed an unprecedented winning streak and won all 3 categories in 5 consecutive tournaments. In 2014/2015 a championship ranking was introduced in the Tambourelli for the first time, despite tough competition Rose was able to win the 2015 championship title in all 3 disciplines (singles, doubles and mixed). This season was then rounded off perfectly with the first victory at a world championship in men's singles. His opponent in the final was none other than his men's doubles partner from SV Sachsenwerk Marco Zink. In 2016 they both brought the world championship in men's doubles to Germany. Rose also won the bronze medal in the men's singles at this World Cup.

In 2016, 2017 and 2018 further championship victories followed. As in 2015, he was able to win the championship title in all 3 categories. In 2017 Rose competed at the Outdoor World Championships in Devon (England). Here he had to admit defeat to his doubles partner Zink in the semi-finals of the men's singles due to injury. In the game for bronze, however, Rose was able to prevail and narrowly win. At the 2018 World Cup, back in Scotland , Sebastian Rose was able to repeat the title of world champion.

In January 2019 Rose was nominated for Sportsman of the Year 2018 in Dresden. The 2019 World Cup in Sweden (Stehag) was Rose's second attempt after 2016 to defend his title in the men's singles, but Sebastian Rose had to defeat the later finalist Tal Appleton-Wickens from England in the third set in the 1/4 final give up. In the mixed doubles discipline, however, Rose and his partner Hugh Wallis from England won the title for the first time.

Sebastian Rose has been playing for Tamburello Dresden at SV Sachsenwerk since his debut in 2011 .
