NGC 969 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Triangulum in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 206 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 100,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 970 , NGC 973 , NGC 974 , NGC 978 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1997dp was observed here.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 22nd, 1827 .
