NGC 984 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 198 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 115,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxy IC 1809 .
The galaxy was discovered on December 13, 1871 by the astronomer Édouard Stephan .
