NGC 966 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 449 million light years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter.
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth in 1886 .
