NGC 964 = IC 1814 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 209 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 130,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy IC 1816 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on September 1, 1834 .
