NGC 970 is a galaxy in the constellation Triangulum in the northern sky and forms an optical galaxy pair with 2MASX J023410.7 + 325832. It is an estimated 437 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 100,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 969 , NGC 973 , NGC 974 , NGC 978 .
The object was discovered by Bindon Blood Stoney on September 14, 1850 .
